There are some moments in life that you simply never forget.  It’s always interesting to think back to the things you remember from your childhood.  Usually it is something really good, or really bad.  A special holiday, illness, the first day of school, moving, or…
Catching a forty pound Mahi Mahi off the North shore of Oahu.

Two of my boys just had an experience that I am certain they will never forget.
(Jonah tends to get serious motion sickness, so he skipped this one.)

My parents are visiting for a few weeks right now, and after talking about it for YEARS—My guys finally got out and did a Fishing Charter this last week.

They went out on “The Seeker,” a charter boat with H2O Adventures HAWAII.  Chris and Kevin, the Captain and Crewman of the boat,  did a great job giving the boys an experience of a lifetime.  They let the boys do all of the fishing, and only jumped in when they really needed them to pull the huge fish into the boat at the end.  Leaving from the Haleiwa Harbor, the boat went out just beyond Kaiena Point.  The views were breathtaking, and the seas were calm.  No one got sea sick (though we did use the patch behind the ear to be safe.)  I’m pretty sure that my guys are already hooked. (no pun intended, hehe.)

After catching the Mahi Mahi, the guys went on to have a 45 minute tug-o-war with a 9 foot shark, eventually letting it go.

I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story.

The guys came back exhausted, and happy.  Their trip was all that they dreamed it would be.  My dad and Dave are already working on plans for the next fishing trip.

As you can guess, we’ve been eating REALLY well this week!  Mahi Mahi is one of my favorite kinds of fish.  (There MAY BE a recipe coming up soon…)

To learn more about H20 Adventures Hawaii, go to their site and see all kinds of great photos and information about what they have to offer!
Also, they post all sorts of fun photos (including a bunch with my guys from this last week) on their FACEBOOK page.
