Five Ways You Can Help When Your Kids Are Feeling Down.

I am super excited to be guest posting today over at the Kids Activities Blog.
(You may know of their site, (or recognize their Facebook page, Quirkymomma.com, which is such a fabulous resource that they currently have nearly one million LIKES!)

I chose to do my guest post on a subject that I’ve never written about here at my blog before.   It is something that all families will eventually face, and one I think we all should be equipped to handle.
I  hope you’ll hop over to read it after reading my intro (below.)

**And as always, your shares, tweets, and comments make my world go ’round…:)

Kids with the blues

We all have them: Dreary days, down-days, or what my family sometimes just calls “the blahs.” Sometimes they are the result of a disappointment or a rough season in life, and sometimes they just show up.

Kids are not immune to the blues. Even here in Hawaii where the sun is usually shining and the water’s always warm, my boys have days where I can tell they’re in a funk, and they just don’t know how to get out. As a parent it can break your heart, and I want to jump in to the rescue–willing to do almost anything to cheer up one of my kids.

And sometimes we can help! A little one-on-one time with a parent, or baking their favorite treat might just turn a mood around. Sometimes kids respond to a simple pep-talk, and sometimes they need a good old fashion nap. (and I’m happy to join them.)

But one thing kids really need is to learn how to pick themselves up when they’re down. It’s a skill that they’ll need for the rest of their lives!

Now you can hop over to the Kids Activities Blog to read the FIVE ways we can help our kids when they’re down.

Much Aloha, and see you back here soon!

Excellent post! May I share this post on my blog at school? I think that parents could all use this information. I have never shared something another person wrote and am not sure of the etiquette. Of course, I would credit you! Please advise….

Thank you Shannon! So nice of you to ask…Since this post “lives” over at Kids Activities Blog, I suppose it would be up to the owner over there…but I typically ask for people to just link a post in their blog. I’ve been told that if the same content is on more than one site somehow google doesn’t like it, and it is not good for either site. (haha, I’ve never understood that, but the experts say so..) Would it be possible to link to it in your blog? Meanwhile, I’ll ask over at the other site in case it’s fine with her! 🙂

Great ideas! I have some very moody young men on my hands. Great ways to help them help themselves. Laps around the house seems to help too. Especially when blues comes with attitude. We make it a race and time the laps.
