Welcome to our first couple-video! Dave and I were inspired by Valentine's Day (ok, I was,) and we thought it would be fun to do a marriage-themed Vlog. Dave was a great sport to play along...We keep things pretty light in this one, mostly because I really wanted this to be a chance for you to get to know Dave a little, and to see the two of us together. If you like it, let us know and maybe we'll do more!Have I mentioned that doing videos is a little nerve-wracking?So I'll go

Strawberry Yogurt Donuts! I love you.
Happy Valentine's Day! I probably don't say it enough, so this seems like the perfect time to remind you that... ...I love you! And I really wish I could give each of you one of these to prove it. Really, one day, when I'm an old lady, sitting on the porch in my rocking chair, and my grandkids come by my side to ask me all those questions about what it was like when I was a mom with four rambunctious boys running in circles around me, (assuming that I'll have any memory left in me--) I promise
Five Myths about Homeschool Families
I don't write a lot about homeschooling because I don't feel like much of an expert on the subject. That may sound funny, because I've homeschooled for eight years, and you'd hope that I know a thing or two by now, but it's true. There are plenty of mom-bloggers out there who write curriculums, create unit studies, and share printables, and I consider them the experts. I homeschool my three school-aged boys with an online program, and my job is simply facilitator, grader, and warden of the
Simple, Quick-Rise Cinnamon Rolls {Gluten-free or Regular}
The holidays may be over…But long live the Cinnamon Roll! Amen? I know I know, I should be sharing some healthy recipe for all of you New-Years Resolution types who are trying to behave well for AT LEAST the month of January…But since I made my fourth batch of these this morning, I felt that the honest thing to do would be to share. And really, they tasted just as good to me this morning as they did on Christmas morning. Maybe even better. Everything in moderation, right? I mean, I only ate
Whole Wheat, No-Sugar Banana Bread. {that tastes really great.}
Right about now, I think I could use one big detox. Anyone else? Since I major in moderation, I won't be going THAT extreme, but a little cutting back on sugar right now sounds super good. And this banana bread recipe is a perfect way to do just that, while staying perfectly in the holiday/baking/sweet smelling state of mind.Not only that, but it's a great way to use up more of these. If you happen to have piles of them like we do…I got this recipe from my Mother-in-Law about
Eggnog Cheesecake Bars: Regular or Gluten Free.
I may not have my act totally together for Christmas yet, but at least I know what I'll be serving for Christmas dessert.GLUTEN-FREE EGGNOG CHEESECAKE BARS! **The Captain Surfs giveaway winner, announced at the bottom of this post! By the way, have I ever mentioned my strange habit of experimenting with new recipes when we have company? You could call that unwise, or even foolish. I prefer "gutsy." Ha. I guess it happens because I get excited when we are having people over, so I want to
Frozen Chocolate Bananas with Sea Salt
You'd be happy to know that we've unloaded every box of holiday decorations, and it looks like the North Pole here in our North Shore home. (Or maybe like someone threw-up Christmas in our living room.) My boys won't settle for "some" decorations, we-must-have-ALL. And everywhere. More on that later this weekend.Right now, I'm here to finish what I started this week in my excitement over homemade magic shell.And sure enough--We're on our fourth batch of the stuff in just over a week.
Life, As it Happens {Reflections on Blogging, and Gratitude.}
I tend to get a little sentimental this time of year. I know it's busy and hectic and all of that, but I still have more of those quiet, reflective moments in December than I do the rest of the year. Maybe it's all of the holiday decorations, and the memories and associations they bring. Maybe it's the music. Or the sugar. Or the simple knowledge that we're about to wrap up yet ANOTHER YEAR…and I find myself doing some healthy reflecting.This blog brings yet another reason for me to
