Talking about stress incontinence and bladder issues as we age, as part 5 of our series on "Life in our 40's." Well my friends, I hope you've enjoyed this series so far. Today we come to the awkward, but important topic of Urinary Incontinence. Leakage. Bladder issues. With a focus on the most common issue of Stress incontinence. If you've ever had the humiliating experience of thinking you can bounce on a trampoline as a mid-40 year old Mom, I'm guessing you know what I'm talking

4 Things I’m doing now, to reduce Holiday Stress later
Like most of you, I absolutely love the holidays. Here in Hawaii, we will never have a white Christmas, and it takes a bit of imagination to get into the holiday spirit, but (maybe because of all of that--) our family is ALL IN. We love everything about the holiday season, and (don't be judging, but...) we are already playing Christmas music and diving into our favorite Christmas movies. (Life is too short to limit the best holiday to just one little month a year.)
Cardiovascular Disease: Why Women in their 40’s should pay attention. (With Dr. Dave)
Hi Friends!Today we are shifting gears just a little and covering a topic I hadn't originally planned to include in this series. But Dr. Dave....? Well, he suggested that today's topic is actually more important than any of the other topics. He thinks that every woman in her 40's should be thinking about this one. (Even if it's not as sexy as...say....failing eyesight, or bladder leakage. whatever.)Cardiovascular disease. Heart disease. Diabetes. Strokes. Heart attacks. The
14 Snack Ideas your kids will love (and you’ll feel good about.)
Sharing after school snacks for your kids on those days when you just. can't. think. of. anything. else. I love to hear from blog readers, and especially enjoy emails from new subscribers after I send them a welcome email. They respond to my questions, sharing a little about themselves, then telling me what kind of posts they are most interested in. Some topics come up a lot: communicating with your teenager, boy-related posts, and recently, a lot of requests for the Life in our 40's
What we can do for Hormonal Changes: Life in our 40’s (and 50’s) with Dr. Dave
Dr. Dave is back to talk about what we can do for hormone changes in our 40's (and 50's.) And....we're back!Thankfully, Dave is recovering from his man-cold, and kindly sat down with me to do another video. {Quick note: Have I mentioned that these are harder than I thought they'd be?} I think what makes these challenging is that I am very aware of the great variety of views and opinions people have on these (super-sensitive) topics, and it's pretty much impossible to cover
What I’m Doing for an Injured Back. Learning from Life in My 40’s.
My story of a back injury and how I'm learning to live with it in my 40's.The plan this week was for Dave and I to follow-up from our last video, and to finish talking about hormones in our 40's, and most importantly "what can we do about them?" (the million dollar question.) The plan, however, has changed due to Dave going back to a busy week at work, and simultaneously getting a man-cold. (seriously. and we thought menopause was bad.)I promise we'll get to that video after Dave gets
I may not have Fall, but I have Avocados. {the best Avocado Toast Recipes}
Before I dive into a brief bragging session, let me remind you that my favorite season is fall. And I'm aware that many of you are currently looking at multi-colored leaves, feeling a crisp chill in the air, and wearing things like: boots and sweaters. And indeed: I am envious. If I could transport myself to some fall wonderland every September-through-November, I would do it in a heartbeat. So count your blessings.With all of that said: I live on a tropical island in the middle of the
