It’s beyond a busy week here. To make up for our craziness, I decided to make a treat that is SO SIMPLE, it even fit easily in the middle of our chaos. Fifteen minutes and done. Not lying.
And I thought THIS would be a super fun Mother-son, or Mother-daughter, or Mother-anyone thing to do this week, because it is all about HUGS and KISSES. And chocolate. And we all know that those are three of the most cherished things in a mother’s life. (just don’t make us tell you in what order, haha.)
Wait a sec—I almost forgot the salt. Hugs, kisses, chocolate, and SALT!? I can’t take it. Too much goodness.
I actually found this little recipe idea in a Focus on the Family Kid’s Magazine called Clubhouse Jr., so don’t give me too much credit for the brilliance. Levi and I stumbled on it over coffee and Sesame Street around 6:30 AM yesterday.
And in case I’m not the only one to overlook the obvious–the magazine explained that the pretzel shape is supposed to represent a mommy’s arms when she gives a great big HUG. (awww)
Top that with chocolate KISSES, and hello Mother’s Day.
Check it:
THREE INGREDIENTS Hugs and Kisses:
1. Heat oven to 250 degrees.
Lay small pretzels out on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking oil. (I used gluten free pretzels. They’re super crunchy, we love them!)
2. Place (unwrapped) chocolate KISSES on each pretzel. Little hands love to help with this step.
3. HEAT IN OVEN FOR 3 MINUTES.
Remove from heat and immediately press M&M’s onto each chocolate. (I chose Peanut butter M&M’s because: hugs, kisses, chocolate, salt, AND PEANUT BUTTER!? I die.)
*Little hands need to be careful around the hot baking sheet here. My older boys were good help though.
and it just gets purtier and purtier…
and purtier…NOW QUICK-Before you start popping them in your mouth (ok, one or two is reasonable,) STICK THE PAN IN THE FRIDGE!
Let it cool for about ten minutes.
Then find a handsome server…
…and make happy memories.
This is just the sort of treat that helps make up for a week where you’re a little busy, and a lot out of your mind.
Pin it for Mother’s Day Ideas!
Share it with friends.
Have a great week!

I love this little treat! Nothing much better than a sweet and salty combo. My SIL has made these in the past (for Christmas get togethers with red/green M&Ms) and I never fail to eat my fair share.
Also, how funny you mention Clubhouse Jr. because I didn’t realize they were still publishing it! That’s how my best friend and I met, over 20 years ago.

Can’t wait to try these! I grew up about 15 minutes away from Hershey, PA–“the sweetest place on Earth”! You can actually smell chocolate in the air!
